Yes…there’s a poll feature for Instagram posts! And yes, I know I usually hate on The Gram, but for once they’ve made something that’s incredibly useful…and users are responding to it! I’ve used this on a few profiles and people seem to love the interaction. Read on to learn where to find it and how to use it.

Why Go Quiz Mode?

Think of your social media as a lively party. You wouldn't want your guests yawning into their drinks, right? Quizzes spark curiosity and get people buzzing. They interact, debate their choices, and stay hooked, waiting to see if they guessed right!

Here’s how to create a quiz on these two channels.

How to Create a Quiz on LinkedIn:

  1. Start a New Post: Go to your LinkedIn home feed and click on ‘Start a post’.

  2. Select 'Create a Poll': Find and select the 'Create a poll' option.

  3. Craft Your Quiz Question: Enter a compelling question that piques interest and add multiple-choice answers.

  4. Set Poll Duration: Choose how long you want the poll to run (up to two weeks).

  5. Post & Engage: Share your poll with your network. Encourage comments for extra engagement, and maybe hint at a follow-up post that will reveal the correct answer and explain more.

How to Create a Quiz on Instagram as a Post:

  1. Create Your Post: Begin by crafting a regular post with an image or graphic that relates to your quiz question.

  2. Head to Caption Screen: As you proceed to the final editing screen before posting, look for the 'Create a Poll' option in the caption area.

  3. Set Up Your Poll: Add your quiz question and possible answers. You can have up to 4 answer options.

  4. Encourage Interaction: In your caption, encourage followers to participate in the poll and tell them to stay tuned for the answer in a follow-up post. You can even share it to Facebook.

Double the Interaction with a Follow-Up

You know I am all about tools and content you can reuse. The quiz is no exception!

After your quiz has ended, create a follow-up post or story. Reveal the correct answer and provide an explanation or interesting facts related to the quiz topic. This follow-up not only satisfies curiosity but also reinforces engagement by bringing people back to see how they did and learn something new.

Scenarios where quizzes are a winner

Quizzes created using poll features can be a versatile tool for various campaigns and scenarios. Here are 5 creative uses:

  1. Company Milestone Celebrations: Similar to company anniversary trivia, quizzes can highlight key milestones and history, engaging long-time followers and educating new ones.

  2. Dispelling Industry Myths: Use quizzes to challenge common misconceptions in your industry, providing educational insights that position your brand as a thought leader.

  3. Product Knowledge Tests: Quiz your audience about features or hidden uses of your products, which can also serve as subtle promotions.

  4. Customer Feedback Polls: Convert a quiz into a tool for gathering feedback on services or products, tweaking it slightly to make it fun and engaging.

  5. Seasonal Knowledge Challenges: Create quizzes related to seasonal events or holidays that relate to your industry, such as 'Guess the Origin of Halloween' for a costume retailer.
